My Experience in a campaign i participated in Kailahun District, Sierra Leone
Related to country: Sierra Leone

I am Tamba Kutah, male, 14 years old, currently attending the Kissy Bendu Secondary School and I am in Junior Secondary School-1.

Let me start by thanking members of YOUTH SERVICE AMERICA, their supporters and also the entire team from the CHILD RESCUE MISSION-Sierra Leone (CRMSL) for coming to our aid at such a needed time.

As a young school boy and also a young man coming up in a deprived community like ours, the coming and implementation of the project ADDRESSING THE UNFRIENDLY ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES WITHIN COMMUNITIES IN POST WAR SIERRA LEONE by the CRMSL, is a strong hope for me that despite the several problems within our community, there are people from both national and international who are ready to identify themselves with us and help us collectively in finding solutions.

Furthermore, this project has helped me understand the causes and effects of the un-addressed environmental problems in my community and beyond. I have also learned the preventive measures which has given me special love for the environment. In fact, I have established a class club call FRIENDS OF THE ENVIRONMENT (FOTE) which I want to make a school club.

Additionally, i am of the strongest conviction that generations within and outside this community will live above the 47 years life expectancy in Sierra Leone by the implementation of the good preventive and protective measures for our environment. Off course, the sounds of guns and bombs are today silent in post war Sierra Leone, but things could go worse than those if we fail to
address issue of extreme poverty, unhealthy and unsafe environmental measures within our societies today and forever.

Finally, i want to thank the funders and organizers of this wonderful initiative and let me also use this opportunity to appeal to you all, nationally and internationally for more programs of this nature as our community lack good and clean water supply, enough public toilets, hospital or health centre etc which are all the basic unit of human developments.
